Recovery Is Powerful

This video is an incredibly powerful four minute representation of the power inherent in both alcoholism and recovery. Stigma surrounding word like "alcoholic" and "addict" can make one feel as though they need to be anonymous—unknown, invisible, even hidden. That doesn't need to be the case. There is no shame in struggling with your relationship to alcohol. There is no shame in suffering from a disorder. Let's reshape the conversation about what alcoholism and recovery mean.

These things make admitting one has a problem really difficult—knowing that others are likely to have significant negative and personal reactions to one's struggle with their relationship with alcohol. For more information on the history of stigma and alcoholism, read this paper.

Barriers To Care

Individuals in need are struggling to get help. National Council for Mental Wellbeing President and CEO Chuck Ingoglia says: “It is a national disgrace that 43% of U.S. adults who needed care are unable to get that care for mental health and substance use challenges. We are in a mental health and substance use crisis. Failing to eliminate barriers to access will only worsen this new public health emergency.” Read more here. Alcoholisnt strives to help those who want to change their relationship with alcohol get quality treatment. We are seeking treatment partners who could refer their potential and existing clients to Alcoholisnt for financial assitance with the cost of treatment. Our focus is currently on developing relationships with providers in the Boise, ID area, but we are open to discussions with providers everywhere.
